MECHANICAL SUPERINTENDENT

Corpus Christi, TX | SUPERINTENDENT

G.A. West & Company is seeking a Mechanical Superintendent for a long-term career opportunity. Our immediate need is in Corpus Christi, Texas but candidates must be able and willing to travel to various project sites as required.

 

Responsibilities are as follows, but are not limited to:

  • Have a clear understanding of the scope of work and our obligations under the contract
  • Direct the general organization and deployment of all field supervision, field labor, equipment, and material resources
  • Review drawings/specifications and plan the work to conform to the budget and schedule requirements
  • Participate in internal meetings with craft supervisors to review and communicate the specific work plan and look ahead schedule; review safety and quality aspects of the work
  • Ensure that daily reports from craft supervisors are submitted timely and accurately
  • Provide daily monitoring of all field activities to ensure that the work is being performed as planned, with attention to safety and quality
  • Coordinate GAW work with subcontractor work
  • Work with internal management to review significant extra work pricing and implementation into the schedule
  • Maintain daily reports recording key items, schedule delays/impacts, open RFI’s, interferences, non-conforming materials, design conflict, etc. and review with the Project Manager and/or Project Executive
  • Proactively motivate field craft workers to advocate project safety
  • Work to visibly create safe operations as a top priority on the project site
  • Know, practice and enforce the GAW and owner-mandated substance abuse programs
  • Manage the productivity of field craft personnel, including daily meetings with craft supervisors
  • Communicate and re-communicate the work plan and monitor to be certain the plan is followed
  • If and when necessary, exercise disciplinary action to craft employees that are not in compliance with safe and productive work practices and workmanship in a quality manner and standard
  • Use the corporate Safety Department as a resource in managing a safe project
  • Keep the Safety Department apprised of project developments
  • Participate in JSA and Toolbox talks in coordination with the Site Safety Manager
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents
  • In the absence of the Project Manager, the Project Superintendent will report to the Project Executive and the Project Superintendents responsibilities will include those of a Project Manager
  • Perform other duties and activities as requested by senior management

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in industrial construction with extensive mechanical background
  • Prerequisite experience should include a foundation in the installation of complex piping projects, advanced project controls, or integrated multi-craft project delivery
  • Possess specific knowledge of the ASME B31.1, and B31.3 codes along with API standards
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required

 

This position can be hourly or salary depending on candidate preference. Compensation depends on experience. Perdiem and/or travel expense reimbursement if eligible based on project location. G.A.
